The Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce was established in 1952 under Wisconsin statutes as a non-profit corporation, a 501 (c) (6). The Chamber is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors, which meets monthly. Board members represent five business categories: Automotive/Manufacturing, Hospitality,  Retail, and Service. The Chamber employs a staff of three, including Executive Director, Tourism Coordinator, and Office Manager.

The Prairie du Chien Tourism Council is a standing council of the Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the Tourism Council is to promote the Prairie du Chien area as a tourism destination.
