June 5-6: Free Fishing weekend, Every year, the first consecutive Saturday and Sunday in June is designated as Free Fishing Weekend throughout the state of Wisconsin. All the waters of the state are open, including state waters of the Great Lakes and rivers bordering Wisconsin. Residents and nonresidents of all ages can fish without a fishing license (or trout or salmon stamps) over these two days. However, all other fishing regulations (length limits, bag limits, etc.) apply.

July 10-11: The War of 1812 Re-enactment, A historic encampment and battle re-enactment on Wisconsin’s only War of 1812 battlefield, now the lawn of the Villa Louis estate. Learn about the British assault on U.S. Fort Shelby in a battle scenario each afternoon. Tour the camps and learn about military life in 1814.
