Cruise, Captain Jack, a noted Smithsonian Archivist, will
share his personal life experiences onboard various
Mississippi River transportation which includes keelboats,
steamboats, towboats and barges. This cruise will transit the

the Fort: Life in Early Prairie du Chien”, The
grounds of the Fort Crawford Museum will be filled with
historic reenactors presenting aspects of the daily life in
early Prairie du Chien. There will be Native American
storytelling and basket making; a French fur trader and paddle
carving of a voyageur; British mini-militia and games for
children; military encampment with demonstrations of musket
and cannon firing; plus candle making, open fire cooking,
